Type: Black teas from Darjeeling, India, and Sri Lanka
Manufactured: Mark T. Wendell Tea Co.
Aroma: Thank goodness it doesn’t smell like the Boston Harbor! Instead, it has a faint smoked-earth aroma.
Flavor: A surprising spice hits after the first swallow, balanced by a sharp acidity. Almost like it’s fighting for something delicious—but doing so with honor and class.
History: Most people have heard about the 1773 Boston Tea Party where, instead of sitting down in a civilized manner to sip tea and nibble crumpets, colonists protested the Tea Act by dumping 92,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor. Today the monetary loss would be $1.7 million, but the real shame was the chest of congou, souchong, bohea, and green teas that were lost in the name of taxes.
